Gisle Kverndokk has written a dramatic aria based on Queen Margretes Emergency Letter – a Private Letter from the Middle Ages 1370

This is one of the few surviving private letters from the Middle Ages and it was written by Queen Margrete 1. She was only 17 years old and pregnant with her son Olav when she wrote to her husband King Håkon VI Magnusson who was probably in Båhuslen, Sweden. It was written at Akershus Castle on 18 October 1370.emergency letter. Kverndokk has also included two prayers in Latin: Oratio ad Providentiam Divinam (Prayer to God's Providence) and Ave Maria.

The aria will be performed by mezzo-soprano Hege Høisæther and pianist John Lidal. It is part of Margretedagene at Akershus Castle, Oslo.
